This is a lovely little hotel Food very enjoyable Staff very pleasant Especially Helen the manager Would recommend this hotel highly

Had family breakfast. Really well cooked full English. Pleasant surroundings and helpful staff. Would recommend.

It is rather difficult for me to review a hotel where I have been a returning guest for twenty years especially as it has new owners. My parents live locally so it is in the best location for my holiday visits. We arrived on boxing day. We were due to meet my parents for lunch at 2pm in the bar for lunch. My partner and I had not eaten as we were looking forward to the late lunch after travelling from mid Wales that morning We ate at 4pmThis upset my dad which upset my mum. Not the best start to a two night break Room prices have been lowered but the extras I always enjoyed have been stripped back. Breakfast buffet and bathroom complimentary bits gone Even bin liners in the rooms. One waitress walked past us crying at breakfast. The staff in general seemed to have no direction nor leadership I understand that the festive season is a difficult time for anyone to purchase a going concern and I'm certain that the new owners will address the issues being raised as the old hall is a little bit of history with amazing potential These issues will not deter me visiting again as I will look forward to seeing the results

Staff uninterested, room ok, pillows uncomfortable, water red hot when it eventually came through. We were not told about the front door being locked in the eve, nor about the front door key being on the same keyring as the room key. We found ourselves locked out at 10.30pm and tried to use both keys, however neither unlocked the door, we tried buzzing and knocking on the door to no avail. We then phoned the hotel whilst looking through the window and to our surprise saw a male running downstairs in his underpants! He answered the phone and we were told to wait 5 mins. He went upstairs and returned to unlock the door from the inside. We received a 'sorry but no explanation, very strange! Faulty Towers sprang to mind. On the day of departure no one asked if we enjoyed our stay, uttered seasonal greetings or said have a good journey, when we mentioned about the front door key not working the receptionist said she would look later. Would I spend 200+ to stay there again? I think not!

Nice place. Quite cosy. Good beer and food. Never stayed over though so unsure on the rooms
